Republic Blog, Republic On The Move

This spot came highly touted in Brett’s “Los Angeles” magazine, as one of the best cheap eats in the LA area. And man…
did it not disappoint. This place is GREAT. We went there on a Thursday, around 630 or so. Apparently we didn’t know how popular this place was. We all ordered something separate, but none of it was fish. But everything here is delicious. Like, really delicious. The sides were fairly standard but with a bit of a twist. The mashed potatoes were a little sweet, and the mac n cheese had a breadcrumb top crust. None of this bothered me because it was good as fuck. Everyone shared their dishes, and the table came with 2 types of sauce, sweet, and the “XXX” sauce which is pretty spicy but it slowly creeps up on you.

Above is the Three Kings platter, which is highly recommended. The hot links, chicken, pulled pork, ribs, shredded beef, and ALL of the sides were pretty much perfect for my liking. Can’t speak on the fish though. If you’re in the Venice area, it’s definitely a must to hit up.

We thought they were messing around when we saw the sign on our table, but when we left around 715-730, there were a good 20 people waiting outside because this place is TINY. So do yourself a favor and either order takeout or go really early. Retro out!
