Neptune’s Net, Malibu

Last Saturday, Patrick and Quan had this cockamamie (pause) scheme to head out to Neptune’s Net in Malibu to gather and have some food + drinks. Why, do you ask?
Because Neptune’s Net is the restaurant where Paul Walker and Vin Diesel’s characters’ had a meal after smoking a Ferrari on PCH in the movie The Fast and Furious. I’m a little ashamed to even post this. My dudes literally watched the movie beforehand and rehearsed lines in preparation for going out there. Needless to say, I knew I needed to catch a quick buzz to the head to be seen in public with Fast and Furious fanboys.

After 4 quick beers to the head, we were off. Thankfully I rolled with Jay who didn’t like the movie and did not want any part of a reenactment. The restaurant is split into two parts, one section for fried foods and bottled beers, the other for steamed foods and pitchers with desserts. Located at the northern end of PCH, this place obviously specializes in seafood, so we all ordered different types. Sadly, the only noteworthy things on the menu were the crab cakes, steamed crab, chili fries and pulled chicken sandwich. The shrimp and calamari were mediocre, as the batter didn’t have much flavor, and the raw oysters and fried fish were downright terrible. But, they had beer there and I went with good people so I definitely had a good time.

That is, until the guys started going over movie lines again. That was Jay’s queue to whisk us away back to the Westside, and not a moment too soon. All in all, it’s a decent enough place, just don’t go there expecting awesome food. Most places in your own area probably serve better, fresher seafood. But the atmosphere and view are really dope.
