Live Shows

BCTV: ANY1MAN OPENING NIGHT LA from Broccolicity TV on Vimeo.

This was a great show and well worth the $20 this weekend. Really thought provoking and entertaining. Super great show. But it got me to thinking…

Sometimes, you meet people. You ask them what they do.You usually take their word for it. If that person happens to be some kind of entertainer or artist or what have you. It kinda puts a different twist on things. You may not realize it then, but there could come a time were you have to view this persons work. Not only that, but youre gonna feel pretty obligated to give some kind of feedback. If that feedback happens to be less than what that person wanted to hear (and who knows what that is for sure) things could get dreadfully awkward. There have been tons of sitcom episodes structured with this same premise Im sure most people reading this are familiar.

Any 1 Man is a 1 man show starting George A. Peters II. One day, somebody is going to have to explain the difference between Jr and II is. Maybe I should ask George himself. Ive actually been knowing about this show longer than I’ve actually known George, which is another story in itself. But when I heard the Any1man show was in LA, I had to go. Not only to support the homie, but I was really intrigued as to what this show could possibly be about.

Liz and I met George, along with Benny and Jon some months back on Random Venice Saturday. To make a long story short, we met through friends of friends on twitter and the net, had a bootleg mini tweet up, got drunk, took pictures and filmed a PSA. Had a blast!
Turns out, George is an actor. He has a 1 man show he does called Any 1 Man. Benny and Jon happen to also help him put on this show. Cool. However, that wasnt the reason they were out here months ago. Fast foward to the present and it just so happens that the Any 1 Man show is coming to LA! Hotdamn! I jumped at the chance to see the show.

I wont give away any spoilers… and if you go see this play, as Im about to over recommend, you will immediately know what Im talking about lol. That being said. This was a GREAT show! There are two things that are true about me. 1 – Im not some one who is gonna say go see something just because I know the people involved. 2 – I rarely watch anything more than once. I promise I plan to take as many people as I can this upcoming weekend. Im going to see it again. It was that good. This show can seriously make you laugh and could possibly make you cry. It might make you angry, it might give you a clearer view on the way things between men and women work and why that is. Very thought provoking. Very Entertaining. George managed to keep my attention the whole way through. Not an overly long show, only an hour long. And honestly my man does his THING on that stage. Thats real.
Im a person who watches TV shows, Movies, Plays or whatever and I try to guess the plot before the end. Or the point of the story before the end. This show, I actually had to wait till the end almost connect all the dots. Just the way I like it.
So shout out to my man George, for putting on a great show! Thusly, us having avoided that awkward moment when he asked me what I thought about the show. And then when he asked me again. But you know, foreal this time lmao.

If you want to roll with me to the show either thrusday, friday or saturday, let me know. No, Im not going all 3 days lol. Just 1. This is going to have to be a group effort.
